week ten - flowers, fun and firsts

Moved into the 6 month onesie and my new home!  This is the blankie from my crib set :)

This week has been full of packing and moving.  We have finally gotten everything in now we have to put it all away :)  Gavin was such a sport moving with us.  He spent many a day at the storage unit sorting and shifting things with Alan and I.  On Tuesday we went to group and found that Gavin now weighs 12 pounds 14 ounces...wow has he grown no wonder the 3 month onesie doesn't fit lol.  We have a "two month" doc appointment this week so we will see how much he has grown.

Also this week Gavin experiences his first carwash.  With all that pollen the car needed to be cleaned.  We weren't sure how he would react but alas he was observant and pleasantly into it.  May become a backup for "fussy time"!

Auntie Elissa came to visit this week and we played with Gavin outside which was so nice.  The weather has finally turned so we bought some sunscreen (California Baby) so we can enjoy some days out....maybe we will go to the beach soon!  We also took a nice long walk with Roderick and Jessie!

Auntie Elissa and Uncle Tim  babysat Gavin on Sunday while Alan and I dealt with the moving process.  We hired some amazing movers to help us with the bulk.  So worth it!  They had such a nice time with him...however....

....we got some silly pictures throughout the day...lol!  We also go some really cute ones.  Thanks Auntie Elissa and Uncle Tim!

Our final news for the week is our slow transition into cloth diapers...YAY!  It has been one full day.  We used two homemade shells during the afternoon with a typical prefold and a bumgenius for nighttime with some extra soak pads.  We had one number two which wasn't bad at all.  Let's hope all goes well when momma washes!  We plan to use them exclusively at home and save throwaways for trips and days out!  Here is the cutie in his first homemade diaper ever!

nine weeks old - my hiney is fixing to be clothed

Yet another Busia special...what would Gavin do without his Busia!

It is amazing how time just seems to go right by.  I cannot believe that you are already nine weeks old!  This week you really started coming into your own.  You are so fascinated by your hands and your tongue.  You always to seem to want your hands in your mouth lol.  I think you favor them to the pacifier.  Also this week you really became interested in things hanging above you like the mobile.  You are growing so fast!

Tuesday we went to the breastfeeding support group and learned about cloth diapering.  Alan and I have been doing some research and found some great deals on some diapers to start us off.  It is really easy for cloth diapering to become expensive (even more then disposable)!  You really have to think about your purpose for it.  We have some gdiapers, working on getting some bumgenius, home made versions, and some off brands.  In addition, we have convinced Busia to try and make some :)  We hope to start in a couple of weeks.   I weighed 12.5 pounds this week :)

This week we three also worked on packing and getting ready for what we think will be our final move for a while!  YAY!  A place we can call our very own.  The movers are coming on Sunday of this week to finish off everything and we sign on Friday.  It will be a busy week!

Thursday we met Jessie and Roderick at the library for storytime.  Next time I will have to take photos.  It was fun to sing and read with all the babies there.  We hope to go this week too! Also this week we had a playdate with Issac at Busia's friend Barbara's house and went to dinner with Busia and Pop.  Gavin got to have his first experience at a Cambodian resturant and fed the fish with Busia.  What a lucky boy!

week eight - a swinging, a rolling, and a pramming

Busia made this blanket for me to sleep on in the pack and play.
Momma loves it!

This week was very calm and relaxing.  Tuesday we went to the breastfeeding support group and Debbi and Anson gave Gavin a super swing that he just adores.  We have tried so many swings and alas this is the one.  Thanks so much!!

My new swing!
This week we also saw Auntie Elissa in school and all the kindergarteners got to meet Gavin!  They were so fascinated with him.  Each of them got to touch his toes...lol.  It was the highlight of the day.  Also one little boy begged and begged to touch his head...snickers...so I let him :)  Gavin is such a rockstar!

And on Friday the little one was playing on an activity gym and don't you know he rolled from his belly to his back all by himself.  Alan and I clapped for him....what a big boy.  Now we need to watch out...smirks!

On Sunday Alan and I left Gavin with Busia while we headed out to the gym together.  When we returned Gavin and Busia were on a walk in the pram.  Gavin had a grand ole time!  They strolled over to Busia's friend Barbara's house and picked some lilacs.  Doesn't that face say it all!

week seven - bellies and tongues

Mrs. Neubert made this beautiful blankie for me!
She is the mommy of a little girl my momma had in kindergarten.
It is so amazing to watch Gavin Alan grow and blossom!  He has been really fascinated by his tongue this week :)  It seems like he just can't understand what it is lol.  I so enjoy watching him explore with it, however sometimes it causes him to push his bottle out...silly boy!  He is also getting so much stronger.  We are working on belly time everyday though it is not always his favorite it does make his neck strong and he is getting closer and closer to holding his head up without support.

Tuesday we spent our first day at the Breastfeeding Support Group at the hospital.  It was great to connect with old friends and meet some new ones.  Gavin was weighed there and was coming in strong at 10 pounds 11 ounces. It is such a wonderful place to network and we look forward to going next week.  We love learning and growing on their facebook page too!  It is so wonderful to have a great group of women to connect with!

This week we also visited Phoebe at her house for a clothing party.  It was fun to meet some new friends and have them share in feeding Gavin.  He even got to try on some new clothes :)

Phoebe feeding me!

Saturday we spent a beautiful day walking with our friends Jessie and Roderick on the bikepath.  Though Gavin was not too happy to be in the car seat, which seems to be a trend.  He really prefers not to be restricted and wants to be on the move.  He's favorite moments are laying on the floor looking around and discovering.

week six - keeps growing and growing

Mr. Hovey gave me this very special quilt!  I love it :)

A week full of happiness!  Alan came home on Tuesday which made Gavin and I very happy.  It was so nice to have him back and we celebrated with a date out to Asia.  Gavin slept while Alan and I enjoyed some yummy sushi and wine :)
Gavin sleeping on Alan at Asia!

Thursday Gavin had his one month check up at the pediatrician.  He weighed 9 pounds 15.5 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.  We cannot believe he almost doubled his weight!

Afterwards we went over to Jessica and Dylan's house for a playdate.  We met a few new friends, had some yummy lunch, and learned that we need a new swing and bouncy chair.  Thank you Jessica for showing us the way lol.  So alas on Saturday Gavin and I trucked out to the Petite Repeats children's sale.  We got both a swing and a bouncy chair that Gavin loves and some clothes for when he is a bit bigger...including some summer hats!
Nolan, Dylan, and Gavin

Thank you Jessica and Dylan for letting us play in your swing!

Sunday we were invited over to Lysa's house to enjoy a yummy dinner and watch a girly movie while the boys enjoyed the UFC fight on pay-per-view.  Lysa fed and snuggled with Gavin all night.  He slept on her lap till we headed home after 1 in the morn.  Thanks for the yummy food (especially the ice cream) and the good time!
