fourteen weeks - what else can i put in my mouth

loving his tongue...this swaddle blanket was provided at a
workshop we attended with gavin this week :)

This was my second week back and work and my last week lol.  You have to love great timing.  On Tuesday Gavin visited school and had the opportunity to help mommy clean the reading closet.  Also some of the first grade teachers stole him for a while *winks* to get their baby fix!

Wednesday night Gavin and I headed to a free 2-series workshop offered by Paul Melville at the Cape Cod Hospital.  Paul Melville is a family support specialist and Happiest Baby Educator in the area.  He also runs two daddy groups for stay at home dads.  He is a great resource.  You can find out about other workshops and groups in the area at the Cape Coalition website.   He provided us with a bunch or resources, a DVD, white noise music CD, and a swaddle blanket.  This week he will discuss carriers and provide each participant with a free one :)

Thursday morning Gavin and I attended a free Itsy Bitsy Yoga class at the Breastfeeding Center in Sandwich.  We have also signed up for future classes.  It was great to get together with moms and babies to stretch and celebrate.  You can check out their website, Health Children's Center for Breastfeeding, for other offerings.  We hope to attend a Baby Sign Language class they have scheduled for the end of the summer.

Also this weekend Gavin had a special night out at dinner with Busia and Pop and attended his first barbecue of the season, and went to a diaper party (thank you Elsa!).  Momma even bought Gavin a swimming diaper....summer here we come!  We look forward to many more adventures as the weather turns warm and sunny.

Dinner with Busia and Pop!
As for milestones, Gavin has become very friendly with his hands lol.  He is starting to reach for things and in most cases put them in his mouth lol.  His friendly octopus that always was a copilot on adventures has recently become his chew toy.  Unfortunately, we don't want him to loose any limbs or eyes to a unknown belly we have supplemented with a Sophie.

He has managed to get just his thumb in!

Poor Octopus :(

thirteen weeks - back to work i go

"Hum...is anyone watching me?"
This is a bath towel my busia made me!  Very 60's.

After our big adventure to New York it was nice to come home and just relax!  Too bad I had to go right back to work on Tuesday.  Wow what a busy week this was.  Being back at work was hard.  I wanted to be with Gavin and Alan but I would have to muster through a whole week and a half.  But honestly, it was nice to get back and see some co-workers and all the kids.  Gavin spent his days with Alan and evenings with me.

At times we needed someone to cover in between the times we both worked so Busia watched Gavin on Tuesday and had a fun time doing some feet prints with him.  Also Jessie and Roderick came over to play.  Those boys have such a nice time together.  It must be so nice to have a little person who is your size around.  On Saturday Alan and I watched Gavin and Roderick.  How fun!  We got a taste for twins lol.
Ridge testing out the carrier!

Classic play gym photo...how simple life can be!
Also this week we celebrated Father's Day.  Happy belated Father's Day to all the fathers out there.  I must say for me it is so amazing to watch Alan as a father.  He is so patient and loving to Gavin.  He is so blessed to have such a wonderful father in his life!  Gavin gave Alan a UFC Crib Fighter's onesie for Father's Day.  This way they can watch the fights together in the proper attire :)

We also started trying Gavin in his Bumbo seat this week.  His head control has been fantastic and we know he always likes to be sitting up or facing out while you hold him.  He wants to be where the action is!  Really I can't blame him.  It is so amazing to watch him grow.  He is so determined to get his whole fist in his hands lol.  I just hope he doesn't get it stuck...snickers.

twelve weeks - my first big trip

Sporting my southern roots!  Another creation of my Busia's!

This week Gavin's weight was checked and he is weighing in at 13 pounds and 9 ounces measuring 23 inches.  What a big boy!  I cannot believe how much he has grown since he was just born!  Here is a flash from the past of Gavin's first bath with Busia.  WOW!

So this week we embarked upon our first family trip to upstate New York for my cousin's wedding.  A six hour journey which Gavin took like a champ only arising once or twice to eat.  Now that we are home he is a bit cranky from the adventure and having a difficult time settling back into his routine, but pending some long naps we should be past it.  Here are some photos of him with the fam...we only hope we can visit again soon.  It was so nice to see everyone!

Dressing up is so much fun!

eleven weeks - while dad's away the children will play

Air Guitar!
This is the cushion from our old couch leaving us tomorrow.
Yay for new furniture!

This week we went for Gavin's two month check up with Dr. Heard....Gavin's favorite doctor in the world :)  Gavin weighed 12 pounds and 12 ounces putting him in the 75 percentile and measured in at 22 3/4 inches the 50% percentile!  Wow huge growth in all areas.  He also got his first round of shot which we did not like so much.  They made him a grumpy fussy pant for a few days.  Poor little guy.

This week Alan got on the big bird again so Gavin and I traveled up to drop him off and pick him up.  While he was away we played with Auntie Elissa and went furniture shopping.  Also we had a play date with Jessie and Roderick who now goes by Ridge!  Gavin and Ridge enjoyed the play gym while Jessie and I enjoyed dinner and some laughs.

Ridge & Gar - BFF's
We also had the opportunity to spend some time with Meghan and Clara this week.  We went for a nice walk and played at there house.  It was a beautiful day.  I also had the opportunity to take some photos of Meghan with her daughter...so cute!

This week Gavin and I spent a lot of alone time together with Alan gone.  It was rough with the shot crankiness but always wonderful to play and watch as he grows.  We also tried the frontwards carrier...it will take some practice but I think its going to be something he loves :)

p.s. gavin is love love loving his hand lol
